How does it feel to be the new global champion? Sebastian Cichowlas – the global Chivas Masters winner #bartenderoftheweek

Sebastian Cichowlas - 2019 global Chivas Masters winner #bartenderoftheweek

  1. First of all – huge congrats for winning the global Chivas Masters cocktail competition, tell us, how does it feel to be the new champion?

S:Thank you!

I’m very happy. It’s almost the second month after my success and still, when I think about it, I have tears of happiness in my eyes. I’m very proud of my achievement. Chivas Masters competition proved me that the dedication, hard work and strategy towards your dreams and goals could bring you to unexpected places.

2. Sebastian, You had competed already in Chivas Masters last year, and You didn’t get into the finals. What have You done differently compared to the previous year?

S:This year I decided that I want to get as far as possible and I dedicated every minute of my free time for preparation for this competition. No excuses, either complaining. So I had set priorities, and everything I’d been doing was focused on my family, job and Chivas Masters.

Last year I didn’t spend so much time on preparation. Also, my good friend Rick Marso completely smashed the competition leaving all of us without any questions.

3. Has changed in your life/career since You’ve become the global champion of one of the biggest cocktail competitions in the World?

S:It’s amazing achievement and title, but I’m still the same person. Lately, I’m getting a lot of invites from people around the World to visit them and do guest shifts or seminars. It’s going to be amazing to travel the World and start discovering more cultures as a Chivas Master with a dram in hand. Honestly, it is very hard to say what changed in the last 2 months.

4.It’s been an intense year for You! You’ve just become a father before You submitted to the competition, just changed the workplace. How have You managed to achieve this great success despite all these rather time absorbing events?

S:If you can dream it, you can do it! Life is always hard. Stop complaining and looking for excuses, set up your priorities and go! On top of that, take good care of yourself before it’s too late – working in this industry is one of the most dangerous jobs in the World! Mental and physical health is what I’m talking about here. If you can find balance over there, you can have so much power to achieve whatever you want. Maybe you will hear soon more about that on my seminars.

5.What are your future plans after winning the competition? Actually, what was the prize for the 1st place?

S:Our winning team is going to DMBA 2019 to set up our @chivas_pirouettes pop-up bar! Follow us and check out what’s going on! I’m also going to have blending session with the legend of Chivas Regal the one and only master blender Collin Scott. Regarding my plans, I would love to see almost all of the different countries fighting for the title of Chivas Master 2020 and support them. I’m also planning to start some my own project at www.sebshake.com

6. What advice could You give to bartenders preparing for the next year’s edition?

S:There is no only one golden advice that I can give but remember you just can’t beat the person who never gives up. I lost a lot of competitions before and took my lesson from all of them. Maybe the fact I never gave up got me that far.
